Itinerary

Sample Itinerary:

Following is a sample of a 10-day safari itinerary (12 days total including travel time).  It is is intended to give you an idea of safari activities, but your vacation will be customized as much as possible to your preferences.  Before your trip, Eagle Tours Kenya will talk to you at length about the animals you want to see, how much time you would like to spend on game drives, and we will advise you about what to wear, what to bring, the customary gratuities, and much more information that will help make this vacation as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Day 1  Nairobi

Arrive Nairobi, Kenya.  You will be welcomed at the airport by your guide and driven to your hotel.

Day 2  Samburu, the Equator and Mt. Kenya

After a several hours drive — we will pass Mt. Kenya and cross the Equator — we arrive at our lodge in Samburu National Park in time for lunch, maybe a short nap and an evening game drive.

Day 3  Samburu

Certain species of zebras, antelope and giraffes are only found in this area and you will see an abundance of them during your game drives.

Day 4  Sweetwaters Tented Camp

We leave Samburu for our next lodge, the Sweetwaters luxury tented camp. In addition to game drives, you can even arrange to ride a camel around the camp for a particularly interesting view!

Day 5  Lake Nakuru

Today we drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, a designated rhino sanctuary where you will likely spot these gentle giants on your game drive.

Day 6  Lake Navaisha

You’ll get up close to hippos and a wide variety of birds on an open boat ride on the lake.  At the Lake Navaisha Lodge you can enjoy watching hippos, zebras, and antelope graze on the grass right outside your hut’s door.

Day 7  Masaai Mara

It is a long drive to the Masaai Mara today.  But a trip to Kenya wouldn’t be complete without visiting this iconic park.  If you are lucky enough to visit in July you will be rewarded with an up-close view of what is often called the 8th wonder of the world:  the great migration of wildebeest and zebras crossing the rivers in the park.  At any time of the year, you will be overwhelmed with an assortment of animals, birds, and stunning scenery.

Day 8 and 9  Masaai Mara

In addition to game drives, you may also choose to visit a Masaai village and see first hand how these gentle people still survive in their primitive setting.  You can go on a nature walk with Masaai tribesmen.  Or perhaps you want to spend some time just lounging by the pool.

Day 10 and 11 Nairobi

Your safari is coming to an end and we will arrive back in Nairboi and your city hotel.

Before we depart for home we’ll visit some special Nairobi sights during the day:  the Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Center, and the Karen Blixen Museum.
